Srinagar, Oct 01 Sopore Police conducted search operations today at the residences of individuals linked to Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) in Zaloora, Sopore.

A police spokesperson identified the individuals as Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, son of Abdul Rahim Bhat, and Tanveer Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Jabbar Dar, both residents of Zaloora, Sopore.

“These searches were carried out under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and in connection with FIRs registered at Sopore Police Station. Valid search warrants were obtained from the competent Court of Law before initiating the operations,” the spokesperson said.

During the searches, the spokesperson added, incriminating material linked to the proscribed organization was recovered and seized for further investigation. “The entire process was conducted in the presence of Magistrates and independent witnesses to ensure full legal compliance and transparency,” the official said.

The spokesperson emphasized that these raids form part of Sopore Police’s ongoing efforts to dismantle networks involved in separatist and terror-related activities. “Such measures are essential to prevent the spread of radical ideology, safeguard public order, and protect national sovereignty,” he said.

Reiterating the department’s commitment, the spokesperson stated, “Sopore Police will take strong action, strictly in accordance with the law, against anyone attempting to disturb peace and stability or associated with banned organizations. No element threatening the region’s security will be spared.” (KDC)
