I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Abrar Ahad Wani and the entire Neurosurgery and Anaesthesia teams at SKIMS for accomplishing one of the most extraordinary medical feats in recent times — the successful 11-hour removal of a rare holocord intramedullary spinal cord tumour in an 18-year-old girl.
This landmark achievement not only showcases unmatched surgical expertise but also reflects the compassion, discipline, and unwavering commitment of SKIMS toward serving humanity. Performing such a highly complex, 17-level laminoplasty and tumour excision free of cost speaks volumes about the institution’s dedication to equitable healthcare for the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
On behalf of the GR Beigh Memorial Foundation and the JK Government Employees Conference, I proudly salute Dr. Abrar Ahad Wani, his brilliant surgical team, the Anaesthesia Department led by Dr. Zulfikar Ali, and Director SKIMS Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie for guiding such excellence.
Your work is not just a medical success — it is a beacon of hope and a reminder of the extraordinary capabilities within our own institutions.
You have made the entire valley proud.
