Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was celebrated across the country to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — the Iron Man of India — who played a pivotal role in unifying the nation.
In Kulgam, the main events were held at Qazigund, Mini Secretariat Kulgam, and Altaf Memorial Government Degree College (AMGDC) Kilam. To mark the occasion, Kulgam Police, in collaboration with AMGDC Kilam, organized a “Run for Unity” at the college premises. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and police personnel, spreading the message of national unity, integrity, and harmony.
At Qazigund, the “Run for Unity” was flagged off by DIG South Kashmir Javid Iqbal Matoo, accompanied by SSP Kulgam Anayat Ali Chowdhary (IPS), Sector Commander Sudhir Singh, ASP NHW Mumtaz Ali Bhatti, International Cricketer Parvaiz Rasool, and SDPO Qazigund Mansoor Ayaz.
In main town Kulgam, the run fir Unity was flagged off by SSP Kulgam Shri Anayat Ali Chowdhary (IPS), accompanied by DC Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan.
At Devsar, the programme was led by SHO Devsar Masood-Ul-Hasaan, along with the college faculty, including Incharge Principal Shabir Ahmad, staff members, and a large number of students. The participants took a pledge to uphold the values of unity and integrity as envisioned by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The event concluded with a unity pledge and inspiring speeches highlighting Patel’s immense contribution to national integration and emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in preserving the nation’s unity and integrity.
