Harsh Weather Forces Early Winter Vacation in Leh; Schools to Close from Dec 8 & Dec 15: CEO Leh

Leh, Dec 5 : In view of the intense cold wave and rapidly dropping temperatures across the region, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Leh has ordered the closure of schools for winter vacations in a phased manner.

According to the directive issued by the CEO, (Del Argmo, Chief Education Officer Leh) as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, as desired by the Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC Leh, all Government and Private schools in Nyoma and Durbuk zones up to Class 8th will remain closed for winter vacation from December 8, 2025.

Further, the order states that all schools across Leh district will observe winter vacation from December 15, 2025, due to severe cold conditions affecting normal academic activities.

The administration has taken this step keeping in view the freezing temperatures and harsh climatic conditions prevalent in the district.
