DODA, DECEMBER 22: Achieving a major feat in cyber policing, the Doda Police has recovered over two hundred lost mobile phones in the current year, besides busting online fraudsters in the current year- thanks to the proactive initiatives of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Sandeep Kumar Mehta, who established a dedicated online portal and a Cyber Crime Cell in the District to effectively address cyber-related offences and public grievances.

As a result of these initiatives, the Cyber Crime Cell has retrieved 58 lost mobile phones valued at around ₹12 lakh in the last three months. The recovered mobile phones were handed over to their rightful owners today at a function held in the SSP’s Office Chamber, providing much-needed relief to the former.

Speaking on the occasion, the SSP informed that a total of 210 lost mobile phones worth approximately ₹49 lakh have been recovered across the district through the effective use of technology, coordination and prompt action by the Cyber Crime Cell. He further stated that the Cell has also achieved notable success in tackling online fraud cases.

The SSP added that an amount of around ₹6.30 lakh, lost by victims   to the online fraudulent activities, has been successfully recovered and deposited directly into the bank accounts of the victims. He emphasised the importance of public awareness, timely reporting and responsible use of digital platforms, reaffirming the commitment of Doda Police towards technology-driven, transparent and people-friendly policing to ensure digital safety and public confidence.
