Kashmir Reports 11 Fire Incidents in 24 Hours, Multiple Structures Damaged

Srinagar, Dec 30 : At least 11 fire incidents were reported across various parts of the Kashmir Division during the last 24 hours, causing damage to residential houses, commercial establishments and agricultural property, officials said on Tuesday.

According to details shared by the Fire and Emergency Services Kashmir Division as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, firefighting teams responded swiftly to all distress calls and successfully prevented the flames from spreading further, thereby averting major losses.

In Srinagar’s Umar Colony, Lal Bazar, a three-storey residential house was damaged in a fire incident, while in Dewan Bagh area of Sopore in Baramulla district, a single-storey school structure caught fire. In Chewa Safapora area of Ganderbal, a haystack used as cow fodder was gutted.

In south Kashmir’s Letpora area of Awantipora in Pulwama district, a shed made of GCI sheets was damaged, while a walnut tree was affected by fire in Pir Khan Abad area of Kupwara. A shop was damaged in a fire incident at Bongam in Shopian district, and a cowshed was affected in Magam area of Kupwara.

Meanwhile, a double-storey residential house was involved in a fire incident in Gund area of Qazigund in Kulgam district. Officials said the remaining incidents involved minor fire outbreaks which were brought under control in time.

Authorities have once again appealed to the public to strictly adhere to fire safety advisories, particularly during the winter season, and urged people to immediately inform Fire and Emergency Services in case of any fire-related emergency.
