Senior Congress Leader Waseem Ahmad Shalla urges LG administration of UT of J&K to look into the demands raised by the Special Police Officers (SPOs) over the non-disposal of their long-pending cases related to conversion to the rank of Constable under the ITI category.

In a Statement Waseem Shalla said that a group of Special Police Officers (SPOs) working in the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department have raised concern over the non-disposal of their long-pending cases related to conversion to the rank of Constable under the ITI category.
He said that SPOs have been discharging their duties with dedication for the past ten years. While the minimum qualification for SPOs is 10th pass, many among them are 12th pass, graduates, postgraduates, and holders of ITI diplomas obtained after securing due permission from the competent authorities.
Shaall said that Home Department order issued in 2009, which states that SPOs with a minimum of three years’ continuous service and ITI diplomas are eligible for conversion to Constable/Follower, subject to qualifying the prescribed tests. Accordingly, the SPOs said they completed ITI courses and later submitted representations through proper channels to the Director General of Police, J&K, seeking conversion.
However, for the past three years, these cases have remained pending at PHQ without any final decision, despite repeated requests.
Shalla Urged LG Manoj Sinha to look into this matter so that this issues will be resolved as soon as possible which will give much relief to them.
