Deputy Inspector General of Police SKR Anantnag Javed Iqbal Matoo(IPS )visited district Kulgam and chaired a crime & security review meeting at conference hall DPO Kulgam, to assess preparedness for the peaceful celebration of upcoming Republic day-2026.

 

The meeting was attended by SSP Kulgam Shri Anayat Ali Chowdhary-IPS, ASP Kulgam Shri Mohammad Aftab Awan-JKPS, ASP NHW Qazigund Shri Mumtaz Ali Bhatti-JKPS, all SDPOs, DySP HQRS Kulgam, all DySP OPs, SHOs and other senior officers of Kulgam district.

 

During the meeting, DIGP SKR Anantnag took stock of the overall security scenario, counter insurgencies and Crime review and directed all the officers to give impetus to quality of investigation of UAPA/NDPS/other crime. He emphasized the need for strict vigilance against elements posing threat to peace and stability and underscored the importance of maintaining a high level of alertness, coordinated patrolling, real time intelligence sharing and continuous surveillance along with enhanced area domination within respective jurisdictions.

 

He also stressed upon the officers particularly SHOs to work hard in protecting and detecting the crime and emphasized to adopt professional approach while dealing with counter insurgency operations.

 

DIGP SKR was also briefed about the security measures put in place in connection with upcoming Republic Day-2026 celebrations. He directed the officers to make all necessary arrangements and maintain heightened vigilance at vulnerable locations across district for peaceful celebrations of the Republic Day event.

 

The meeting concluded with the assurance from the participating officers that the directions imparted to them will be put up on ground level in letter and spirit.
