AIOCD Welcomes Historic GST 2.0 Reform says it is Relief for Patients,

The All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD), representing over 1.25 million chemists and distributors across the country, warmly welcomes the historic GST 2.0 reform and expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government of India.

The hailed the discussion of GST on medicines has been reduced from 12% and 18% to 5%. and Cancer and life-saving drugs have been made completely tax-free.

This sensitive and visionary decision not only reflects the Government’s deep concern for the welfare of patients but also marks a milestone in strengthening affordable and accessible healthcare for millions of Indians.

AIOCD President J. S. Shinde and General Secretary Rajiv Singhal said that AIOCD wholeheartedly supports this historic and visionary decision and is fully committed to ensuring its smooth implementation across the country. Our chemists will transparently pass on these benefits directly to patients, reaffirming our motto .Patients First & Always.

He said that nationwide distribution of awareness material and posters at all pharmacies across states to ensure patients are informed of the GST benefits and said that Continuous coordination with pharmaceutical companies, software vendors, and state associations to ensure uniform implementation.

AIOCD’s appeals to the Government that Provision for refund/adjustment of Input Tax Credit (ITC) on old stock, to reduce the cash flow burden on traders and during the transition period, until new low-MRP stock is available, a 90–120 day protection period should be granted to safeguard against penal action for any inadvertent errors.
