Jammu, Mar 08: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Sunday said the government is closely tracking the situation of Indian citizens, particularly students from Jammu and Kashmir, who are currently stranded in Iran due to the ongoing conflict in the region.Maps

Speaking to reporters, Choudhary said the administration is in regular contact with concerned authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of the students and other Indians present in the affected areas.

He said the situation on the ground remains complicated, which has made immediate evacuation difficult at this stage.

“We are receiving regular updates about the students and other people from India, especially those from Jammu and Kashmir. Their safety is our priority, but the conditions there are complex and evacuation is not possible right now,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister assured that necessary steps would be taken to bring them back safely once the situation improves.

“As soon as the situation becomes favourable, the stranded people will be evacuated and brought back safely,” he added.

Meanwhile, Choudhary congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team for winning the Ranji Trophy, calling it a proud moment for the entire region.

He said the team will be given a grand welcome on its arrival, adding that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has also arranged a dinner on March 9 to honour the players for their historic achievement.
