Pulwama Police Seize Over 7 Kgs of Contraband; Two Persons Arrested

In continuation of its drive against drug abuse and trafficking, Pulwama Police during routine naka checking at Marvel near the petrol pump noticed two suspicious persons coming from the paddy fields towards the general road. One person was carrying a nylon bag on his shoulder while the other was holding a nylon bag in his right hand. On noticing the naka point, both attempted to flee from the spot but were tactfully apprehended by the police party.

On questioning, the apprehended persons disclosed their identities as Khursheed Ahmad Sofi, S/o Ab Gani Sofi, R/o Brari Gund Budgam, A/P Lelhar Kakapora, and Raju, S/o Ash Mohd, R/o Shanti Badi Bagdi Para Road, Badartala, Kolkata, West Bengal. During search, 5.800 kgs of semi-grinded cannabis-like substance was recovered from the nylon bag of Raju, while 1.335 kgs of semi-grinded cannabis-like substance was recovered from the nylon bag of Khursheed Ahmad Sofi.

Accordingly, FIR No. 81/2025 under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kakapora. Both the accused persons have been arrested, contraband seized, and further investigation is underway.

Pulwama Police continues its sustained efforts to curb drug trafficking and safeguard the youth from the menace of drugs.
