Kargil, Mar 13: Vinai Kumar Saxena on Friday took oath as the new lieutenant governor (LG) of the Union Territory of Ladakh, days after President Droupadi Murmu appointed him to the constitutional post.
Saxena was administered the oath of office by the chief justice of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, Justice Arun Palli, at a ceremony held at CIBS Auditorium Leh, officials said.
Chief Secretary Ladakh, all Administrative Secretaries and other dignitaries attended the ceremony held at CIBS Auditorium Ladakh. LG V K Saxena was presented a guard of honour by the Ladakh Police after taking oath as the new LG of UT ladakh .
Pertinent to mention that The President of India last week appointed Vinai Kumar Saxena as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Union Territory.
His appointment came after the president accepted the resignation of Kavinder Gupta as Lt Governor of Ladakh. Saxena replaced Kavinder Gupta who was appointed as the LG Ladakh in July 2025. He is the fourth Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory.
