Srinagar, Oct 22: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief Tariq Hameed Karra on Wednesday said that they have decided not to attend the meeting called by the National Conference on Wednesday, adding it will await directions from the party’s central leadership before taking any decision on alliance discussions.
Speaking to reporters, Karra said that the Congress will not participate in the meeting convened by NC president Dr. Farooq Abdullah. “Unless there is a clear signal from our central leadership in Delhi, we will not attend any meeting called by the National Conference,” Karra said .
Earlier in the day, the Congress Legislative Party met in Srinagar to discuss political, administrative, and economic issues ahead of the autumn session of the J&K Assembly scheduled to begin on Thursday. Karra said the meeting remained incomplete and would continue on Thursday.
“The members of the Legislative Party expressed their views and opinions, which have been formally sent to our central leadership in Delhi for guidance,” he said, adding that the party would take its next step only after consulting the high command.
Karra said that the Congress, being a national party, must act in accordance with the directions of its central leadership. “The suggestions and sentiments expressed by our legislators have been shared with the high command. We will move forward only after their guidance,” he said.
