Traffic movement on the Gulmarg-Tangmarg road was halted on Friday due to heavy snowfall in the world famous tourist destination and other parts of Kashmir, officials said.

An official told that vehicular movement has been restricted on the route until further orders as a precautionary measure.

He stated that the road has been blocked by heavy snowfall and that men with machinery have been deployed to clear it.

“No traffic will be allowed toward Gulmarg until the road is properly cleared. Movement will be permitted only after that,” the official told KNS.

He added that the road is expected to be cleared by around 4 PM, after which tourists and locals would be allowed to proceed to Gulmarg.

The official further said that these steps have been taken to ensure the safety of travelers. The area has been experiencing heavy snowfall since Thursday evening.
