Jammu, December 29(GNS): A man was detained by police after uploading a video on social media, trying to give it a communal angle, thereby disturbing public peace and order.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that yesterday members of one community were bringing wooden logs from jungle and one log slipped and stopped near Madrassa due to which an altercation arose between two communities in the jurisdiction of Police Post Padyarna, which later resulted in stone pelting from both sides and few people sustained minor injuries. In this regard, cognizance was taken by Kishtwar Police and FIR No. 262/25 under Sections 125, 125(a), 191(2) BNS was registered, and investigation has been taken up accordingly.

Meanwhile, today one person from Kishtwar uploaded a video of the incident, claiming it to be an attack on a religious place and attempting to give it a communal angle, thereby disturbing public peace and order. In this regard, FIR No. 263/25 under Section 353 BNS has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar and the person has been detained.

The general public is advised to exercise utmost caution and responsibility while using social media and other digital platforms. Any person found involved in such acts shall be dealt strictly as per law, reads the statement.(GNS)
