New Delhi, Jan 3 : A Delhi court on Saturday extended the judicial custody of Dr Bilal Naseer Malla, one of the accused in the November 10 Red Fort blast case, remanding him to jail till January 16.

As per details available with news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) produced Dr Malla before the Patiala House Court after the completion of his eight-day custodial interrogation granted on December 26. The proceedings were held under tight security arrangements, with mediapersons not allowed inside the courtroom.

Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna, after hearing the submissions, ordered that the accused be sent to judicial custody till January 16.

Dr Bilal Malla was arrested by the NIA in Delhi on December 9 and has been described by the agency as a key conspirator in the terror attack. As per the investigation, Malla allegedly provided logistical assistance to Dr Umar-un-Nabi, the suicide bomber who rammed an explosive-laden i20 car outside the Red Fort on November 10, resulting in the death of 15 people.

The NIA has further accused Malla of attempting to destroy crucial evidence linked to the terror strike.

So far, nine persons have been arrested in the case, including three doctors Muzammil Ganaie, Adeel Rather and Shaheen Sayeed and a religious preacher, Maulvi Irfan Ahmed Wagay. The remaining accused include Amir Rashid Ali, Soyab, Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish and Yasir Ahmad Dar.
