A 19-year-old youth lost his life while another sustained injuries in a road accident that took place between Ashtangoo and Aloosa areas of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday afternoon.
Reports said the mishap occurred when a motorcycle carrying two youths met with an accident along the Ashtangoo-Aloosa road under circumstances yet to be ascertained.
The deceased was identified as Ubaid Manzoor Khan, son of Manzoor Ahmad Khan, a resident of Aloosa Gath, aged around 19 years. His companion, identified as 18-year-old Azad Gul, son of Ghulam Mohammad Matta of the same locality, was injured in the incident.
Soon after the accident, locals and police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated proceedings to determine the cause of the crash.
The tragic accident has cast a pall of gloom over Aloosa Gath, where locals expressed grief over the untimely death of the teenager.
