Awantipora, Oct 8,

Continuing its aggressive crackdown against narcotics trafficking, Awantipora Police on Wednesday attached two single-storey residential houses valued at approximately ₹18 lakh, belonging to two notorious drug peddlers from Anantnag and Pulwama districts.

The attached properties belong to Muzaffar Ahmad Shalla, son of Gull Mohammad Shalla, resident of Karewa Jablipora, Bijbehara, and Javid Ahmad Ganie, son-in-law of Late Ali Mohammad Rather, resident of Gund Baba Khalil, Naina Sangam. The attachment was executed under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985.

According to officials, the action followed a detailed enquiry conducted by Inspector Khalid Fayaz, Station House Officer of Police Station Pampore, under the supervision of SDPO Pampore, R.P. Singh. Investigations revealed that the houses were illegally acquired through proceeds of narcotics trafficking. Both individuals are already facing multiple FIRs and are currently lodged in District Sub Jail Pulwama under judicial custody.

A police spokesperson said that the operation was part of Awantipora Police’s sustained efforts to dismantle the financial infrastructure of drug networks in the region. “This step reaffirms our commitment to act firmly against those involved in the illicit drug trade and to ensure that their illegally acquired assets are confiscated under law,” the spokesperson said.

Locals in the area have appreciated the Awantipora Police for its decisive action, terming it a strong deterrent against drug-related crimes and a message to those profiting from narcotics trade.
