Mumbai, Sept 28: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today appointed former Ranji Trophy cricketer Mithun Manhas as its new president.

He takes over from veteran cricketer Roger Binny, who recently resigned from the post.
The decision was formally announced after Manhas was unanimously elected. His name had been circulating in cricketing and administrative circles for the past few weeks, with reports suggesting he was the frontrunner for the position.
The BCCI has now confirmed his appointment, putting an end to speculation.

Manhas, a former Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir player, is well regarded for his long domestic career and leadership roles. His appointment is being seen as part of a generational shift in Indian cricket administration, bringing in younger and more recently active cricketers into decision-making roles.
In addition to Manhas’s elevation, senior administrator Rajeev Shukla has been assigned a significant new responsibility within the BCCI setup, further strengthening the board’s leadership structure.

Manhas will now be responsible for steering Indian cricket’s governing body through a busy international calendar, as well as addressing ongoing challenges in domestic cricket development, governance, and global representation.
With these key appointments, the BCCI has signaled its intent to blend administrative experience with fresh perspectives from former players, ensuring continuity as well as renewed energy in shaping the future of Indian cricket.
